2018 Glider Pilot Ground School (Winter Course)

The Gatineau Gliding Club and Rideau Valley Soaring are announcing their joint annual glider pilot Ground School. The Gatineau Gliding Club (GGC) is located at Pendleton airfield, about 50 kms east of Ottawa, and Rideau Valley Soaring Society (RVSS) is located at Kars, on the banks of the Rideau River.

This training fulfills Transport Canada Ground School requirements and prepares each student for the Transport Canada Glider Pilot License (GPL) written exam. The total length of the course of ten lectures is thirty hours, of which 15 hours of instruction are required by Transport Canada in order to obtain a Glider Pilot License, in addition to the actual flying experience required, and a GPL Flight Test. The lectures are delivered by enthusiastic and experienced licenced Glider Pilots.

There are two text books that are mandatory for students taking the course. The first is “From the Ground Up”, and the second is “Soar and Learn to Fly Gliders”. These will be available for purchase at the start of the course.
